The tigers found on Kolmården are amur tigers and originate from an area near the Amur River in eastern Russia. The Amur tiger is also sometimes called a Siberian tiger
A few of the animals are also found in northern China and North Korea. With its enormous size and weight of up to 300 kilos, the Amur tiger is considered the world's largest cat animal, and is larger than both lions and leopards.
